About Andrea on the Front Porch

I’m here. Let’s create together to lighten your load.

You’re in the right place. Lay your bags down at the door.

Meet Andrea Sutrick, Art Therapist
in Tampa and across Florida

Is your suitcase filled to the brim? Traveling down this thing called life, you have packed some history you didn’t ask for. The zipper is bulging at the seams, crammed with how others have challenged your way of being, doubting your existence with hurtful words and emotions.

You keep on pulling that baggage, even though the wheel is broken. You’ve learned to respond the only way you can by keeping that luggage locked and stowed away, but you carry the weight with every step… through worry, judgment and restlessness.

There is a lighter path to lift that carry-on into the overhead. Let’s find a creative way.

I’m Andrea. Let’s create together to lighten your load. I specialize in using art therapy in our work together.

With a safe space and time to reflect, you will find ways to express through artmaking, sounds, movement, poetry and more. Working together through your senses, you will reconnect to your body to process past hurt for healing today.

Therapy with me is a natural unfolding – you will design your own life hacks to manage the daily grind in your own true way. I’m here as your co-creator, linking to your goals while providing clarity, suggesting actions, and guiding communication skills.

Let’s create to demystify your experience and holistically reconnect your body, mind and soul. After our journey, you will again lift up your life and navigate with less negativity, compassion for yourself and comfort with self-exploration.

What if you could get out of your own way?

You notice…

• You put all your energy into work to feel like you’re “doing something” but it doesn’t fix anything.

• You’ve always excelled at school but leave empty and directionless when the degree is conferred and wonder “what’s next?”

• When you find a rare moment to relax, you don’t even know how. Then you regret not doing anything else with your life.

You crave relief, clarity and direction.

here’s how i’ll help

I can help you get below the surface level.

Image making naturally taps into both sides of our brain functioning. You will learn more deeply about your areas of unbalance and ways to harmonize. The act of balancing is a constant challenge in daily living. Working together, you will achieve ways to create balance in your life.

I believe there’s not one way to do this life thing.

You may have talked out your problems over and over in your head or packed the past away. Now, you will begin expressing your thoughts and feelings through artmaking so you can know your personal values, balance your thinking and trust your internal GPS.

By mapping your true nature together, you will discover how to navigate your struggles for long-term holistic healing.

I’m passionate about working with all humans.

My approach comes from a love of people from all walks of life. Words alone can’t describe the breadth and depth of your experience. Since you are unique, making art together in therapy will follow your own path. I’ve seen it all – I will hold this nonjudgmental, supportive space.

I’m here to partner in create your healing journey.

My process helps you create the space to experiment, try on new ideas and become inspired to create your change. Each session is responsive to your needs that day, while staying on target with your goals.

With a few basics on hand, like plain paper, colored pencils, markers and any materials you like, I will guide you through processes to help you understand your present situation and explore your past so you can create your new future.

Am I the right therapist for you?

You’ve talked and it hasn’t helped. Let’s do things differently together.

> Innovative Methods
You’re seeking a different approach --  to shift from just thinking to doing. You may say, “I can’t draw a straight line” or “I’m not good at art.” Guess what? There’s no art skills needed, just to be open to the process. Or, you may be a creative person with all the skills, but you desire to get unstuck and free-flowing again.

> Comfortable Space
I will create a confidential, safe space where you are respected and never analyzed. As the creator, you always have ownership of your expressions, your ideas, your thoughts.

> Holistic Mindset
Here’s how I help. When discovering your own rhythms, creating helps to tune out the world so you can hear your inner wisdom. Trying new things will motivate you to think with more flexibility. When you challenge your perspectives with art therapy and EMDR approaches, you will begin to trust your intuition.

The simple act of making art is therapeutic. Now imagine how much better your journey will be with the guidance of an art therapist?

Creative Therapy

I’ve Been Around
the Block

It’s important to know… I practice the hard work too. I’d never ask a client to do things I’ve never done.

  • I’ve done the hard work of making things, sketching the lines, molding the clay, blending with pastels, painting on canvases, printing with inks, and more.

When therapy gets challenging, know that you are supported because I’ve done this same reflective work too. In fact, creative journaling is my go-to coping practice.

    Creative Journaling…Get a Closer Look

  • As a prior MBA and having worked 20 years in corporate, government, non-profit and small owner businesses, I understand how workplace toxicity takes a toll on your personal life.

I hope to bring this experience along with my therapy education to connect the right approaches for your balance at work and home.

  • My personal journey moved me back to my love of artmaking. But more than a picture hung on a wall, I have always connected with the healing power of story behind images.

Now, I practice as an Art Therapist to ultimately help you rewrite your story and become your very best you today.

  • As an expert of experience, if you struggle to communicate, know that you’re making total sense. In this sacred space, you will find your natural ways to express. I respect your hard work and trust how images can powerfully hold and explain the depths of your “lived experiences,” so you can feel heard and understood.

Clients tell me…

“I never would have guessed making things would help.”

“You are so understanding and easy to work with.”

“So creative… I’ve never done this before.”

“You’re always so calm. I trust you.”

“I’ve never looked at it this way.”
