In-Person or Online Art Therapy
All talk and no action
You’ve tried talk therapy and it hasn’t helped.
You just didn’t see the change you were hoping for. Or, the very thought of having to fill an hour talking about yourself seems overwhelming. You’ve tried to speak about the heart of your issues but words fail you.
You don’t fit into the typical box—you think differently and just want to seek help in a nonjudgmental place to feel better. You desire to understand yourself better, to process complex emotions or navigate losses.
You want to get to the root cause of your anxiety. You expect therapy to help you make own choices so you can know your own triggers, gain healing and find ways to cope with anxiety-heavy situations.
What is Art Therapy?
How therapy works
Art Therapy is a creative approach to help you express your emotions & thoughts to know yourself & heal.
Art therapy not only helps you feel better while making images but can helps you work out solutions on the paper right in front of you.
With an Art Therapist, you are guided through art activities like drawing, sculpting, painting and more while you notice insights that naturally arise.
Since it can be hard to talk about difficult experiences and feelings, images made during art therapy can ease the process. Ever hear the saying, “a picture is worth a 1000 words”?
Images help communicate when experiences are complex and words feel limiting.
Making art is naturally soothing and relaxing. Working with me, you can find your own creative ways to tap into this natural form of stress relief. Using materials to make something into existence is a powerful accomplishment and helps you see your progress in therapy.
Art therapy is not about creating “good art.” It’s about trusting the process so you can work through difficult feelings, trauma or grief. We will respect all images, view your work together and trust you as the interpreter of its unique meaning.
You’re unique.

The Backbone to Art Therapy
To guide your experience to your goals, I use the Expressive Therapies Continuum. This framework recognizes that people express themselves along a spectrum of interests. Art projects are chosen to respect each person where they are currently comfortable using activities for body movement, the five senses, decision-making, emotions and thoughts.
The Session Flow
-
We will say our ‘hello’s” briefly and then get to making.
-
We will begin with a warm-up activity so you can shift comfortably into artmaking.
-
You are then invited to use a particular art material or may be guided into a specific creative process. The emphasis is on the process itself, not the final product. We may find insights, explore through making or see symbolic meaning about the image. Then, we will discuss your thoughts, feelings and experiences together.
-
Towards the end of session, we would reflect on your experience and your learnings from the artmaking process.
-
At session end, we will tap into your strengths, your goodness. We’ll honor your growth as you keep what’s useful and let go of what no longer serves you. Supportive journaling or other therapy activities may be suggested to deepen your own flourishing through your therapy journey.
Art Therapy can help you…
Gain creative coping skills for life challenges
Know yourself on a deeper level
Feel pride in making your own path
Have balance in your brain & body
